The Umami Banquet: A Tasting Event

The term ‘Umami’ refers to the fifth recognized group of tastebuds found in the center of the tongue, enabling humans to detect the oxytocin releasing proteins that sustain us. Some describe the experience of Umami as more of a feeling than a flavor, or the perfect balance between richness and seasoning. This event will feature locally caught seafood and seaweed. Presenting Partner Alaska Airlines is flying visiting chef Cassandra Drake Kelly of Arcata, California to Sitka, who will work with local chefs to prepare an exquisite selection of small plates and Charcuterie board sourced from the sea. Performances by Sitka Cirque. Live Music. Beer & Wine Bar. Silent Auction.
